A federal indictment unsealed on Wednesday alleges that Tennessee-based Tenet Media, which is home to several prominent, pro-Trump, right-wing online commentators, was secretly a Russian government-backed influence operation. The company is accused of receiving nearly $10 million from employees of Russia Today (RT), a Russian state-backed media company, as part of "a scheme to create and distribute content to US audiences with hidden Russian government messaging," according to Attorney General Merrick Garland. Two students and two teachers were senselessly gunned down and nine other innocent people were wounded at a Georgia high school on Wednesday in yet another massacre committed by a lone shooter armed with an AR-15 assault rifle. The suspect, a 14-year-old student named Colt Gray who was investigated by the FBI in 2023 for prior threats of violence, surrendered quickly as police officers, including two school resources officers, entered the campus and confronted him. President Biden, Vice President Harris, and a chorus of Democrats condemned the shooting and, for the umpteenth time, called for Congress to finally, finally, finally enact common sense gun-safety reforms. Right on cue, Republicans fired up their vacuous Thoughts and Prayers™ machine and with straight faces told an exhausted American public that has witnessed literally thousands of mass shootings that "this is not who we are." On behalf of the fallen and the many, many shattered communities left behind, we strongly beg to differ.

House Republicans pull nakedly political stunt, subpoena Tim Walz over Minnesota pandemic aid fraud
Donald Trump's MAGA minions in the US House sent a nakedly political subpoena Wednesday to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for information about how his state responded to a massive fraud scheme by a nonprofit operating a pandemic relief program. Walz, of course, had nothing to do with the scheme, but as governor was obviously involved in the state government's response to the operation once it was exposed. And to be fair, the MAGA goons in the House do know a thing or two about taking advantage of the federal government's pandemic relief efforts, having collected literally tens of millions of dollars in PPP loans that were subsequently wiped clean off the books. Funny how that works.

In a meeting Sunday with national security adviser Jake Sullivan after Hamas killed six hostages, including American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, the relatives of US citizens still in captivity urged the administration to evaluate options that do not include Israel, the sources said. Administration officials told the families that they would explore “every option,” but a deal with Hamas that includes Israel is still the best approach, despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's continued duplicitous dithering.
