John,

Throughout this campaign, my team and I have been working hard to reach folks (now virtually!) in all corners of Washington’s Third -- from Klickitat to Clark and Lewis to Pacific counties.

There’s only one reason that we do this, John, and that’s to hear what’s on your mind. I believe, truly, that the best way for me to be apprised of our communities’ needs is through direct conversations with folks like you -- and that’s exactly why I do what I do.

I’ll tell you more below about some of the most important fights I’m excited to take up when I get to Congress. But first, I have to let you know: We’re closing the books on our first monthly fundraising goal of the quarter, and it’s so important to me that we don’t fall short. Campaign resources allow us to expand our digital offerings, reach more voters online, and hire more staff. If it’s within your means today, John, will you consider making a contribution to our change campaign today?

I was fortunate when I was 18 to get a union job at Safeway -- and with that, become a member of UFCW Local 555. After only a couple of months of working there, I gained access to health care (including dental care!), a path to fund a retirement plan, and protections over hours and working conditions.

So when I say that I know the value of unions in America -- of protecting our country’s working families -- it’s personal.

We’re lucky to live in a state like Washington that has one of the highest shares of union members in the country. But now more than ever, it’s imperative that we elect representatives who stand up for our working families and those on the frontlines today -- our nurses, first responders, bus drivers, grocery store clerks, and so many more.

Every safeguard that I received along with my union brothers and sisters lifted us all up, allowing us to look out for both ourselves and our families. That experience taught me the true value of some of the issues I’m most impassioned about in this race: increased access to affordable health care, protecting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and ensuring that we build an economy that works for all -- not just big corporations. And that experience is what I’m going to take with me when I’m fighting for all of us here in Southwest Washington in Congress.

But the only way I’m going to get to Congress is if my team maintains the resources that are necessary to continue running a strong campaign. With less than 24 hours away from our end-of-month fundraising goal, John, I hope that you’ll consider making a donation today if it’s within your means.

Thank you for standing with me, and with working families across Southwest Washington. Let’s do this -- together.

In solidarity,
