Permanently affordable housing has support from both Republican and Democratic voters. Presidential candidates should take note.
More than 40 million Americans, including renters and homeowners, are struggling to afford housing costs.

Both Democratic and Republican voters favor permanently affordable housing—housing that’s insulated from the private, speculative market. Policy proposals could include creating new permanently affordable housing units, providing funding to develop permanently affordable housing, and building capacity for community control of housing.

As Election Day nears, voters may be looking to see if candidates support sustainable, community-centered solutions to the affordable housing crisis like permanently affordable housing.
