John, I hung up my football cleats a while ago, but I still get excited for the start of the NFL season. I still remember the anticipation in the locker room before that first game, the brotherhood I felt with my teammates. 

I feel that same connection, that same togetherness, in this campaign. We have so many people working together toward the same goal, knowing that when we work together, we can accomplish seemingly impossible things.

You know who doesn't work that way? Ted Cruz. We had a term for guys like him when I was playing in the NFL: "me guys." 

You know the type. Talk a big game. Only care about themselves. They're the last people you want on your team – or representing you in the Senate.

That's what got me into this race in the first place. Texans deserve someone who will work for all of us, not someone who will run out of state at the first sign of trouble.

And when I win this race we will not just get rid of the biggest "me guy" in politics, but also protect our Democratic Senate majority. 

So if you're ready to kick Ted Cruz out of the Senate (and out of politics), if you're ready to give Texas new leadership and protect our Senate majority, will you chip in $5 or more to my campaign right now?

If you know football, this race is in the fourth quarter, and we're a field goal away from taking the lead and finally kicking Ted Cruz out of the Senate.

Two recent polls show us just two points down. But it's me and this grassroots team against Cruz, the NRSC, and a bunch of dark money outside groups.

We have to keep pace with the millions of dollars Cruz and his extremist allies are spending. If we can reach our $100,000 goal by midnight it'd go a long way to helping us win on Nov. 5, so with time running out, I'm throwing a Hail Mary:
