Reading Time: 3 minutes

Dear Neighbor,

I just wrapped up a productive August work period, and I want to share with you some of the exciting news from this past month. But first, I have a quick announcement.

Stay in Touch

Here’s the bad news: This will be the final update you’ll receive from me until November.

Because of federal law, Members of Congress—in their official capacity—must limit how they communicate with their constituents within the 60 days immediately before the date of an election.

Here’s the good news: You can still stay in touch! If you still want to hear about the work I’m doing for you, you can subscribe to my newsletter.

You can also stay up to date on my work through Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, Threads, and YouTube.

Last week, alongside California State Parks and the U.S. Department of the Navy, I announced a 25-year lease extension for San Onofre State Beach. I’m thrilled I was able to help all parties reach an agreement that will ensure uninterrupted public access to one of the most beautiful beaches in America for years to come.

Combatting Veteran Homelessness

In August, I announced a new change to federal policy that will expand veterans’ access to affordable housing.

I’ve been advocating for this change for years. As a result, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has made new policy changes to allow more veterans, especially disabled veterans, to access housing vouchers.

This should make a tremendous impact in getting homeless veterans off the streets and into affordable housing units for a stable future.
