Today, Rob announced a settlement with the City of Elk Grove over its unlawful denial of a proposed housing project for lower-income households at risk of homelessness.
This is yet another legal victory that goes to show that no city is above the law — we must all play our part in addressing this crisis and building the affordable housing necessary to ensure everyone has a roof over their heads. California’s housing laws are NOT optional, and the AG is holding every city across our state accountable.
Plus, Rob was honored to speak on the YIMBYs for Harris call last week and explain why Vice President Kamala Harris is the only presidential candidate who is serious about tackling our nation’s housing crisis.
As Rob put it, while Donald Trump slashed affordable housing programs, Harris fought to expand them. While Trump rolled back regulations that kept banks in check, she made big banks pay nearly $20 billion to homeowners hit by the mortgage crisis.
Here in California, Rob created a Housing Justice Team to enforce state housing laws, protect renters, and hold all cities accountable for building the affordable housing we need.
