THIS MONTH IN LEFTIST HISTORY

September 9, 1971: The Attica Prison Uprising begins. The Attica Prison Uprising was a 4 day long protest and battle against the prison by the inmates for their unlivable conditions. After taking control, the inmates attempted to negotiate better conditions with the New York State government.?

September 11, 1973:

The US and UK backed General Augusto Pinochet launched his coup against the democratically elected leftist government of Salvador Allende.

September 14, 1867:

Volume one of Capital by Karl Marx first appeared. Despite the efforts by Capitalists everywhere, the critiques and criticisms levied at capitalism by Karl Marx remain relevant and pervasive today.

September 5th 1882:

The first Labor Day parade in U.S. history took place in New York City. Organized by the Central Labor Union, the event marked the beginning of what would become a national holiday celebrating the contributions of workers. Thousands of laborers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square, advocating for workers' rights, fair wages, and better working conditions.?
