I Love My Grumpy Barn Cat & So Does My Kid ([link removed])

Today, I wrote about pets. Specifically, my cat, who is kind of a running joke among my family and friends: “The joke is that he isn’t real, because almost nobody ever sees him. It’s not exactly true — he pokes his head out when my mom visits, and my sister once woke up in the middle of the night wondering why she couldn’t breathe, only to discover it was Elliott sitting on her chest. (He’s big-boned.) But he is not somebody who strolls meowing up to strangers demanding pets.”

In short, you’d think he’d be a terrible cat for a kid. But you’d be wrong! Let me explain.

“There is a huge logistics struggle in my house every sports season: Should we eat dinner at 4 p.m. or 9 p.m.? With three kids and two of them in sports practices several times a week, it’s a serious challenge. And not just figuring out timing, but figuring out what’s best for everyone,” writes Samantha Darby. But you don’t have to figure it out on your own, because she talked to a pediatrician! Good luck out there, folks.
