Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well and enjoyed your holiday weekend! Tomorrow, Sept. 5, my office is hosting a License Plate Restoration event! Please check below for details. Following that, I’d like to update you on what I’ve been up to since we last spoke and what’s upcoming in our district.
As always, I hope you find the information below informative and useful.
| | License Plate Restoration
| | TOMORROW! Do you have a license plate that is deteriorating? We can help with that! On Thursday, Sept. 5, I will be hosting a FREE License Plate Restoration with state Rep. Joe Ciresi and the Upper Providence Police Department at Anderson Farm Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Bring your registration, license, and yourself! Pre-registration is now closed, but feel free to drive up tomorrow even if you aren’t registered! You will be notified when the restored plate is delivered to our office in a few weeks. We look forward to seeing you there!
| | Office Closure for License Plate Event
| | Quick heads up! Due to our License Plate Restoration event today, our office will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Following the event, we will return to normal hours and remain open until 4:30 p.m.
| | Documentary Screening
| | One of the events we are holding during Veteran’s Suicide Prevention Week is a documentary screening at Ursinus College on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. The Journey Home is a documentary that tells the story of a group of Veterans, their community, and PTSD. To reserve a seat, please call our office at 484-200-8263.
| | Veterans Suicide Prevention Week
| | | In September we will recognize Veteran’s Suicide Prevention Week. As of 2021, suicide was the 13th highest cause of death for Veterans overall, and the second-leading cause for Veterans under 45 years old. Throughout the week, we will hold events that recognize and spread awareness around Veteran suicide. The events include a proclamation, flag raising, documentary screening, and witting tree dedication. Please stay tuned for more information on dates and times!
I am also a proud co-sponsor of state Rep. Jennifer O’Mara and Rep Kerry Benninghoff’s H.R. 519, Recognizing “National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month” and “World Suicide Prevention Day.”
| | | On Monday, I walked with some of the hardest working people I know to celebrate the Labor Day parade in Philadelphia. I stuck with our local electrical workers for IBEW Local 98, who have a location right here in the Lower Providence! It’s always great to participate and see teachers, the Eagles, Musician’s Union, and others represent and celebrate laborers on this holiday.
| | Integrate for Good Visit
| | I had the opportunity to tour Integrate for Good’s Community Hub on Thursday. While there, we discussed the importance of civic engagement for all members of our community, how to best provide mental health support, and an overview of their vocational and leadership training. Their mission is important, and it’s to “empower
students and adults with all abilities to share their talent through inclusive volunteerism, community leadership, and meaningful employment.” Having organizations like Integrate for Good in our communities is crucial for building relationships and ensuring all are included. To support Integrate for Good and their mission, please visit their website at Integrate for Good.
| | America 250
| | In preparation for the historical 250th anniversary of America on July 4, 2026, America250 plans to honor the countless historical milestones and contributions our country has to offer. As America250’s first state partner, Pennsylvania, under the title of America250PA, has a mission called E.P.I.C., which aims to educate, preserve, innovate and celebrate the rich
history of Pennsylvania. I want to highlight historical features and stories within each township in the 150th district that helped mold our beautiful state and country. If you know any historical locations or stories that should be featured, please reach out to my office at 484-200-8263 or email [email protected]. #PAProud
| | Upcoming Observances
| Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – September
| | Throughout the month of September, we recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In the United States, childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children and the leading cause of death by disease for children between the ages of 4 and 14. Let’s use this time to acknowledge survivors and children currently battling cancer so we can help them, their families, and further research.
| | | National Suicide Prevention Day – Sept. 10
| | Sept. 10 is National Suicide Prevention Day. This day focuses on suicide prevention, the distribution of important resources, and other ways we can take action to help our neighbors. You are not alone. Help is always available and can make a difference, whether it be calling the suicide and crisis lifeline at 988 or talking to someone you trust. Today, every day, we can share these resources and let our neighbors know we are here to help.
