It's amazing to see Obama and Harris embracing a YIMBY agenda on the national stage. But it's also not going to change things here in California all by itself. We have to step up and turn those bold words into action – and into electoral success.

We won some big victories in the legislature last week. But California YIMBY's legislative agenda will only succeed in the future if we have allies in the legislature who will sponsor, fight for, and vote for our bills.

NIMBYs know this. They're already mobilizing to support their candidates who will fight to prevent new housing from being built and to keep California unaffordable.

We can stop them. We know that Californians want to solve the affordability crisis by building more housing. The public is with us. But that doesn't automatically turn into votes. Just as we have to mobilize the grassroots to pass our bills, we need to mobilize YIMBYs to elect legislators who will support our agenda.
