Fair Pay for People with Disabilities

Imagine earning just pennies or hours of work. That can't be legal, right? Well, it is for some people with disabilities. A provision in the Fair Labor Standards Act permits it. But you can help us end it!

The Transformation to Competitive and Integrated Employment Act will provide states and employers with the resources to transition workers with disabilities into fully integrated and competitive jobs and phase out section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act: the discriminatory provision that allows employers to pay workers with disabilities less than minimum wage.

Now is the time to email your Senators and Representative to urge them to pass this crucial legislation. Equal access to the workforce and competitive, integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities have been overshadowed for too long by these antiquated, discriminatory practices.
