A critical issue in this district is a lack of healthcare. This district consists of a big city and 14 smaller counties. Pregnant women in the rural areas have to drive 2 hours or more to get to a hospital with a maternity ward…

Tanya was raised in a strongly anti-abortion environment, but, due to her own life-threatening experience during pregnancy, her views evolved. That experience, and the experiences of so many of her students, opened her eyes to the dangers of anti-abortion laws for pregnant women and their families.

That’s why Tanya is determined to ensure that the people of Texas’s 27th district have complete access to healthcare, are able to deliver their babies safely, and are well taken care of in the process. As she told us, “Codifying abortion rights into law should be taken up the same day Congress is sworn in. Women’s lives are endangered by any delay on this issue.”
