Burning Permits will not be activated in northwestern Minnesota during the Air Quality Alert.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert for northwestern Minnesota from September 4 at 5:00 p.m. until September 5 at 11:00 a.m. due to smoke from wildfires across Saskatchewan province in Canada.
To reduce additional air pollutants, burning permits will not be issued or activated during that time. Counties include Becker, Beltrami, Clay, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Otter Tail, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, Roseau, Wadena and Wilkin.
For up-to-date information on fire danger and burning restrictions visit www.mndnr.gov/burnrestrictions.
