OJJDP Celebrates 50 Years of Transforming Youth Justice

JJDPA Celebrates 50 Year Anniversary

It’s our anniversary!  The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention are turning 50!

On September 7, 1974, the JJDPA was signed into law, setting federal standards for the safe and equitable treatment of young people in the juvenile justice system and establishing OJJDP to lead national efforts to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency.  Over the past 50 years, we’ve made incredible strides, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going!

Join us as we look back at our achievements and continue to move forward for the future of juvenile justice. We ask you to:

  1. Visit our Website: Get all the details about our anniversary and explore the resources we have to offer.
  2. Spread the Word: Post about the JJDPA anniversary on your social media channels. Use the hashtag #JJDPA50 to join the conversation and get the word out.
  3. Engage with Us: Register for OJJDP’s national conference this November. Let’s make this a national conversation!
  4. Encourage your stakeholders to participate in the celebration.

Thank you for celebrating this momentous occasion with us!
