### **Minnesota AG Keith Ellison Under Fire After Thanking Brazil Amid Social Media Ban**
In an astonishing display of hypocrisy, Attorney General Keith Ellison praised Brazil mere days after it blocked popular social media platform X, prompting outrage from free-speech advocates like Elon Musk.
Ellison tweeted out a cheerful "Obrigado Brasil!" ("Thank you, Brazil!") - but critics say this endorsement sends a chilling signal about Democrats' commitment to defending the Constitution.
As conservative entrepreneur Elon Musk pointedly remarked: "The Democratic Party — same one that used to defend the First Amendment — now wants to destroy the First Amendment."
Meanwhile, tensions between tech moguls and government officials continue to escalate. A Brazilian Supreme Court justice blasted Musk over comments made regarding the ban, accusing him of showing "total disrespect for Brazilian sovereignty...setting himself up as a true supranational entity and immune to the laws of each country".
Justice Alexandre de Moraes justified the decision citing national regulations requiring online services operating within Brazil to designate official reps who'll respond promptly to judicial demands involving content moderation or disinformation.
However, X pushed back against these claims, stating bluntly: "The [judge] shut down X simply because we wouldn't comply with his illegal orders to censor his political opponents". Moreover, they accused Moraes of intimidating lawyers attempting to represent them in court and freezing assets following resignation.
