A personal message from our Muni operators
Thanks to the support of our members, we've delivered over 200 masks to Muni operators and riders! As Felix mentions in the video, the operators deeply appreciate the support from riders like you. It means the world to them in this difficult time. Unfortunately, we're out of masks and there is demand for more. If we raise another $2,000, we can get a bulk order from a local supplier. Can you help us get more masks?
Thanks to the dramatic and effective steps SFMTA has taken to protect riders and operators, our transit system is in much better position than other cities. SFMTA immediately removed vehicles from service that didn't have protective plexiglass barriers; they shut down the subway to have enough resources to keep buses clean and running; they redesigned the system almost overnight to meet essential riders' needs as best as possible with many operators unable to work. Because of this, we now have enough healthy operators to re-start routes and add buses to routes that have simply been too crowded. We're facing a global pandemic, and the future of public transit is unclear. Muni still needs our support to help get through this crisis. More masks for riders will help them get safely to work, to get groceries, and to access essential services. More masks for operators will support their work as they provide needed public transit. We need your help to get a mask to every operator and rider we can.
These are trying times, but together with SFMTA and TWU 250A, the local operators union, we can all do our part to keep transit safe. We need your help to get a mask to every operator and rider we can. 100% of all donations will go to masks for operators and riders, and every donation activates or renews your membership to San Francisco Transit Riders.
