Take action for social, economic, and racial justice in California

Friend --

Did you know that in 2022 Governor Gavin Newsom pledged to build 1 million affordable homes by 2030?

Yet currently, California is only spending less than 1% of its budget to address the affordable housing crisis.

We need more affordable housing - not just encampment sweeps! Join us for a Housing Crisis Town Hall with our elected leaders to urge them to take action now!

Governor Newsom is not doing what is needed to deliver on this promise of 1 million new affordable homes. Instead of fulfilling the commitment, Governor Newsom seems to think he can solve our homelessness crisis by simply sweeping our homeless neighbors away. As we continue to fight for tenant protections - stronger rent control!, anti-harassment, and more - we are mounting a fight to get the State of California to take responsibility for ensuring everyone has access to a stable and affordable home. In fact, you can see an opinion piece titled, “If California won’t back affordable housing funding, well, you get what you pay for“ we had placed in Calmatters today that lays out the case for this issue.

Register here to join our Housing Crisis Townhall on Saturday September 7th 2024 from 10AM-12PM!

We are uniting with dozens of other organizations across California to demand that Governor Newsom and other state leaders fulfill the 1 Million Homes promise.  On  Saturday of September 7, at 10am, we are hosting a statewide online Housing Crisis Town Hall with elected officials, calling on them to take the action needed.

In solidarity,

Maria Briones

PS. There is power in numbers, so we need everyone to encourage your friends and neighbors to join us for this online town hall to participate and demand solutions to the housing crisis now! Click here to download the digit flyers you can text to your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
