Register Now: CEP Webinar On Terrorist Content Online Regulation In The EU And Lessons Learned From Germany’s NetzDG Law
(Berlin) – The Counter Extremism Project (CEP) invites you to join us in a May 6 webinar discussion about European regulation of extremist and terrorist content online.
The European Union and its member states have worked to propose new online content moderation laws given the tech industry’s continued inability to prevent the upload and re-upload of extremist material from their sites. The EU is currently considering its Terrorist Content Online (TCO) regulation, which focuses specifically on the issue of terrorism online, as well as the broader Digital Services Act (DSA). At the national level, German lawmakers are debating amendments to the Network Enforcement Act (NetzDG), which in its current form, requires online platforms to remove illegal content within 24 hours of notification.
This webinar will focus on the objective and implications of such regulation and legislation and the status quo of the discussions surrounding them. It will also address critical issues like automated content moderation (e.g. upload filters) and the need for comprehensive transparency across social media platforms.
The webinar will be conducted in English.
