Dear Neighbor,
I hope you and your family had a restful Labor Day!
This week, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what Labor Day means for our country.
Labor Day is a time to reflect on the achievements of the Labor movement and to thank unions across the country for the work they do every day.
Make no mistake: organized labor has always been, and continues to be, the reason why we have a middle class.
Many of the movement’s accomplishments have become so engrained in our daily lives that it’s hard to imagine not having them. The eight-hour workday. Weekends off. Good quality health care. Safe working conditions.
The list goes on, but the work continues. From equal pay for equal work to ensuring every single worker in this country has access to health care, we still have so far to go.
As your member of Congress and a proud former IBEW member myself, I will always fight to protect workers’ rights and fair wages.
On Labor Day and every day, I will continue to make sure workers’ voices are heard!
As always, I want you to know that my office is a resource for you. If you have any questions or concerns about a government agency – including issues related to passports, visas and veterans’ benefits – please do not hesitate to contact my Whittier office at (562) 860-5050.
Sincerely,
Linda T. Sánchez
Member of Congress
