Hey Folks,
Your calendar probably told you this before we did, but we only have two months to go until it is Election Day. It is an election that could determine the fate of America for years to come. And, like all races, things are heating up as we approach the finish line.
The political ads, rhetoric, news coverage, and, of course, talk about politics over family dinner is increasing. This kind of back-to-back coverage can create anxiety for all of us who care so much about the future of the country and the state in which we love to live.
We all need to do everything we can to elect more Democrats this fall. It’s important, however, to take care of ourselves and to take a break when we need to soothe our very souls. Turn off the TV, switch off the cell phone, and go do something fun when you are feeling overwhelmed. Read a good mystery short story during a thunderstorm, bake cookies for your family before they get home from school, go for a walk in the park with your dog straining against his leash. It’s important to relax, make healthy choices, and keep some balance and perspective in your life.
When you’re done taking time to care for yourself, the election will still be here, and you will be refreshed and energized enough to do whatever you can to see Democrats to the finish line on November 5. We at the Iowa Democratic Party want to make the process as easy as possible for everyone, so that voting takes place without hassle and without jumping through hoops. Republicans have added a lot of bureaucracy and red tape to the voting process, but below are the directions to get an absentee ballot which is such an easy way to vote. Life happens, and sometimes it’s just not possible to vote in person on election day. Voting by absentee ballot is easy and takes another worry off the list.
Directions: To request your absentee ballot, print an absentee ballot request form from the Iowa Secretary of State’s website by clicking here [[link removed]] and mail it to your local county auditor. You can find the address of your local county auditor’s office by clicking here [[link removed]] .
We at IDP hope you take time for yourself in the next two months. All the political news can get tiring, even for us. The fight for freedom, rights, and rule of law will continue, and when we take care of each other and stay active and healthy, we will finish strong.
