A Life-Long Journey:
From Diagnosis to Advocacy
From the desk of American Diabetes Association® (ADA) Chairman,
Rhodes Ritenour:
Friend,
In 1983, three weeks into kindergarten, I was diagnosed with type 1
diabetes. Back then, there was no guarantee I would live this long.
The outlook for people like me has improved dramatically over the
years, thanks to the ADA and generous donors like you.
I started volunteering with the ADA as a child, helping with small
tasks like stuffing envelopes. When I was older, I was invited to join
the annual Call to Congress in Washington, DC, where I met other kids
with diabetes and learned about the powerful community of advocates
fighting for better treatments and care.
Today, as ADA board chair, I continue to support the ADA's
mission. Your donations fund lifesaving research, advocacy efforts,
and access to care, helping those who can't afford
transformational technologies like insulin pumps and continuous
glucose monitors (CGMs).
Thanks to your generous support, the ADA is giving hope to millions
affected by diabetes in their relentless pursuit of finding a cure to
end this disease once and for all. Can we count on you to join us?
Together, we can make a difference.
Sincerely,
Rhodes B. Ritenour
Chairman of the Board
