COVID-19 is upsetting and disruptive. If you don’t have the time or space to engage with politics right now, we understand— enter your info and we’ll pause your emails for the next few weeks.
<[link removed]> At Swing Left, we’re still working on the November elections because, despite the circumstances, Republicans will do anything to hold onto their power. If you’re ready to help elect responsible leaders, keep reading to learn how you can transform our government.

Hey Swing Left,

We don’t know yet how people are going to cast ballots in the 2020 elections during a pandemic—but we know it’ll be really important they do so. November’s elections are about more than just beating Trump. They’re about electing responsible leaders at all levels of government.

Since we can’t talk to voters in person right now, we’re doing the next most effective thing: writing and stockpiling personalized voter contact letters.* Volunteers have already written nearly 1 million letters asking unlikely voters to vote in November, and today, we’re expanding that effort.

Swing Left is proud to join The Big Send: a new coalition of non-partisan and partisan organizations working to make voter turnout this fall as big as possible. Organized by Vote Forward, together we’re aiming to write and send 10 million letters to voters before Election Day.

You can help! Write 20 letters (which will take just an hour of your time!) this week:

While we’re all social distancing, letter writing is the most effective action anyone can take from anywhere to reach voters in the Super States. And by teaming up with fellow grassroots organizations like the Women’s March Foundation and Indivisible, we can reach our goal of writing 10 million turnout letters and mailing them in October, right before it’s time to vote.

No matter if people will vote by mail or safely in person this November, studies have proven that receiving a handwritten Vote Forward letter will make them more likely to cast their ballot. We saw this for ourselves—just look at the outcome in Virginia last year:

Swing Left volunteers wrote 229,000 letters to voters ahead of the Virginia state legislature elections. Thanks in part to that hard work, voter turnout soared past 2015 levels and Democrats won 14 out of 20 close races. We helped elect the first Muslim-American woman to the Virginia state legislature, Ghazala Hashmi (Senate District 10), and other Democrats like Nancy Guy (House District 83)—who won by only 18 votes!

By writing millions of letters, we can turn out the voters who will vote out Trump and his GOP buddies this November. And we know we can do it: we’re already almost 1 million letters to our goal.

Working together now, we can hit our movement-wide goal of writing 10 million voter turnout letters by October. Adopt 20 letters today!
