Team — frankly, this is not the email we hoped to be sending you today.

But if we’re going to get where we need to hit our goals this month, it’s what we’ve got to do.

August was the strongest fundraising month of the entire campaign, and that’s a credit to this team. To you.

But three days into September, we are tracking far behind the pace we were at last month. That’s a MAJOR problem. We’ve set high goals because we’ve already made major spending decisions — outreach, advertising campaigns, staff expansion, office space — strategic imperatives we must maintain.

These goals aren’t arbitrary. They’re what we need to do to win.

We’re not writing to you to annoy you. We’re writing because our only chance at hitting those goals is through support from people like you.

And we’re hoping that being honest and direct connects, and that you’ll be able to help us get back on track.
