Hello,

Under DFL legislative control and Tim Walz’s administration, Minnesota Students are failing at reading and math. Half of Minnesota students are not reading at grade level, nor are they proficient at math for their level.

Coming off of a 2023/24 legislative biennium where Minnesota touted a near $20 billion dollar surplus, Democrats in the legislature along with Governor Walz spent every last penny, whilst raising $9 billion in new taxes. In this, they touted a new historic education spending budget of $23.2 billion which including $2.26 billion in new funding.

Less than half of tested students met state proficiency standards in reading and math, which mirrors results from last year. These abysmal downward results have continued from when Governor Walz took office, and further accelerated after his unprecedented lock down measures during Covid-19. These results also have done nothing to ease one of the nation’s worst racial achievement gaps in the country when it comes to education for students of color.

Sincerely,

Steve Green
