 Team, Hospitals shouldn’t be focused on turning a profit off the backs of people receiving medical care. But that’s exactly what’s happening here in East Norriton and across Pennsylvania. Since Suburban Community Hospital was bought by an out-of-state corporation, our residents have suffered as a result of their greed. Instead of prioritizing care for patients, their CEO has slashed available services, cut staff, and failed to maintain basic upkeep for essential systems. Crozer Health, owned by Prospect Medical Holdings, is facing similar challenges in Delaware County. Tentatively, Crozer Health is being sold to CHA partners after years of neglect from Prospect resulted in the degradation and closure of services, layoffs, and safety issues for patients. So, Amanda is joining the nurse-led work to fight back. She introduced senate bills 546, 547, and 548 in the PA Senate to address the problems hospitals like Suburban and Crozer are facing. These bills would require safe staffing ratios and maintenance of essential equipment, and prioritizing patients over shareholder value. Amanda’s taking this work on because she is genuinely passionate about ensuring our residents have the resources they need to not just live, but thrive. She knows that our community is being done a disservice by slashing access to medical care to pad the pockets of wealthy investors.
