Dear Friend,

Fatuma lives on the front line of the climate crisis in Kwale county, Kenya. Here, crops are often destroyed due to erratic weather conditions, and **farmers like Fatuma are experiencing up to 25% crop damage each year.**

This situation is leading to food scarcity and a severe loss of income, driving families into extreme poverty. **Friend, will you**[**help families like Fatuma’s fight hunger**]([link removed] "Donate today")**this fall?**

Historically, the region of Kenya where Fatuma lives experiences two distinct rainy seasons. However, this weather pattern has now become unpredictable, with periods of heavy rainfall and prolonged drought. **When I recently visited the area, I was shocked by the baked earth and scorched maize fields.**

When the crops fail, families like Fatuma’s are unable to grow enough nutritious food for their children to eat. **Fatuma worries about providing her family with a healthy balanced diet, as her crops are either scorched by extended periods of drought or carried away by heavy rains.** She told me:

###*“Most of the time, the food is not a balanced diet for either us adults or our children.”*

**But when a family works alongside Ripple Effect, it doesn’t take much to help change their future. Friend, will you help families like Fatuma’s tackle the impacts of climate change with poverty-busting pineapples?**

[ Yes, I'll donate now]([link removed] "Donate now")

***“Ripple Effect has empowered me as a woman... I work on my farm and earn money and now I have a voice. I save 4,000 Kenyan Shillings monthly and this has enabled us to educate our children with ease. We are eating well. Thank you, Ripple Effect.”***- Elizabeth, Ripple Effect farmer, Kenya

Meet Elizabeth who lives with her family in Migori, west Kenya. **Since joining Ripple Effect in 2020, life has improved for Elizabeth and her family.** They now eat healthy nutritious food every day, and her children can go to school.

As soon as Elizabeth received her training in sustainable organic farming, she set to work planting a variety of fruit and vegetables, including poverty-busting pineapples. **She now has many sources of income which makes her more resilient to the erratic weather conditions she faces due to the climate crisis.**

**As Fatuma works with Ripple Effect, she’ll receive training in organic farming and business skills to transform her land and livelihood, just like Elizabeth.**We’ll be working with farmers like Fatuma so they can add value to the fruit they grow turning them into products such as jams and juices. Fatuma hopes that she can set up a thriving business and dreams of buying goats and cows with the income that she’ll earn.

**If we don’t act now, families like Fatuma’s and their children are at risk of going hungry. **Friend, will you consider making a gift which could support families like Fatuma’s as they grow abundant produce, like poverty-busting pineapples?

[ Yes, I'll donate today]([link removed] "Donate today")

**As always, thank you so much for your incredible support, which helps families in rural Africa to fight hunger and the climate crisis.** We couldn’t do the work we do without you. If you have any questions about our work, please don't hesitate to get in touch with my colleagues at [email protected].

With best wishes,
