Nothing is more important than making sure your child is well cared for – but parents also need to work if they’re going to pay the bills! Thankfully, working families can get crucial help from the federal government. 

A program called Head Start programs provides safe, educational supervision for children under 5 for working families, and they provide food, too! Check out this link to learn more and sign up for the free Head Start program.

What is Head Start?

Head Start and Early Head Start cover kids from birth to five years old. The programs provide child care at no cost to eligible parents. Child care centers help kids learn through playtime and early education activities, provide health checkups, and serve kids breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Who is eligible?

If you receive SNAP, TANF, or SSI, your family is  eligible! Foster kids and families experiencing homelessness are also eligible. Families with incomes below the federal poverty line ($31,200 per year for a family of four) automatically qualify, but some programs accept families making more. Learn more in the FAQs here.
