john xxxxxx - Are you a Democracy Lover?Â
There is no doubt that we are living in divided times. We face a far-right machine that threatens our democracy and pushes for regressive policies. Now more than ever, we need a countermovement that is ready to push against this division and stand up for our democracy.
On February 1, 1960, four black college students sat at a lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina. They remained steadfast and peaceful, despite being threatened just for asking for service. This courageous act inspired The Counter. We know the most important and uncomfortable topics, whether they’re covered in a local newspaper or on national TV, are discussed right across from each other at a lunch counter. As we have seen from the Greensboro Sit-Ins, sometimes a movement can get started just by sitting down.Â
The Counter strives to be the space for tough conversations and community ideas. Listen to us as we tackle how to create a more just and equitable society for all. Want to learn more about our work at The Counter? Check out our website, read our blog, or listen to The Counter wherever you get your podcasts.
From marketing to recording equipment to paying our staff, our work needs help from folks like you. I hope you will consider making a donation to The Counter. Your support will help us continue to fight for equality and support our counter-movement.Â
