Friend,
Twenty-six chimpanzees continue to suffer at a National Institutes of Health laboratory in New Mexico. The NIH claims that they cannot be moved because they are too ill after being subjected to years of experiments, but we have a chance to save these chimpanzees from dying in a lab. Will you join the Humane Society Legislative Fund in demanding the NIH immediately release these chimps to the Chimp Haven sanctuary?
Here’s the situation: These chimps are being denied a safe and peaceful life in sanctuary after years of painful experiments at a government biomedical research facility. We, along with the Humane Society of the United States and another animal protection organization, SUED on behalf of these intelligent primates, and the court concluded that the NIH violated federal law by keeping chimps at the lab. But the NIH is still refusing to allow these chimps to live out their last days in the sanctuary they deserve.
Even worse, this group of chimps used to be much larger. But 18 of them died while desperately waiting for NIH to do the right thing. We’ve already lost Danny, Amanda, Fonzie, Kareem and many others to this senseless and cruel delay. Now, we urgently need your help to push the NIH to release the surviving chimps before it’s too late.
So please, friend, every minute matters: Send your message to the NIH today and demand they move the surviving chimpanzees to the Chimp Haven sanctuary now.
