Dear Friend,
As Colorado’s Attorney General, one of my core principles for our work is ensuring that all communities—no matter who they are, their language, their faith, or their background—are protected by the rule of law. Last week, I joined a group of advocates for our Latino and immigrant communities, many of whom have told me that they are not sure who they can trust to protect them.
At the Attorney General’s Office, we are committed to protecting all Coloradans and holding fraudsters accountable. That’s why we established the first bilingual outreach specialist–so we can ensure that irresponsible companies don’t exploit immigrants or other vulnerable populations. It’s also why we took action to stop a landlord from intimidating his mobile home park tenants, many of whom had immigrant backgrounds, during the last election.
I am deeply honored that our work was selected as the Civic Champion by Servicios de la Raza, a respected community-based organization dedicated to fostering a thriving Colorado Latino community. Their mission is to ensure that “all members have the opportunities, and the support systems to achieve equity, self-sufficiency, and self-determination to lead a healthy quality of life.” Servicios de La Raza provides critical services and support to the Latino community throughout Colorado. I’m proud of our partnership, working to ensure this important part of our community is heard, supported, and protected by our government. I recently joined Denver 7 [[link removed]] to talk about the importance of their work.
