Dear John,

The back to school season is here, bringing excitement and challenges for students. As they navigate making new friends, starting new classes, and adjusting to new routines, one crucial activity can help ease this transition: play.

Active and engaging play at recess makes the school day smoother for students and teachers alike. Just ask Courtney Mutschler, an educator at a Playworks school who sees the benefits of play extend to the adults in her building.

Courtney shared, “I have seen major changes in peer relations during play since partnering with Playworks. Students and staff have learned and engaged with problem-solving skills, as well as how to include others in play - both inside and outside the classroom.”

When students have access to play every day at school, the impact is seen beyond the playground. While playing, they’re learning valuable skills such as cooperation, creative thinking, and problem
solving; laying the foundation for a positive school culture where both students and adults feel valued and connected.

Support Playworks today to help students and teachers in your community transition back to school. Let’s create a school year filled with play, connection, and success for everyone!
Thank you,

Elizabeth Cushing
