Dear John,
The past seven weeks have been hard. Managing our jobs, parenting, health concerns and safety, even figuring out how best to walk the dog, it’s a full plate.
Imagine having all of these concerns, AND living along the Upper Mississippi River, where major flooding devastated communities last year, and where experts predict more flooding this spring. Imagine having to worry about getting displaced from your home in the middle of a global pandemic.

American Rivers is out ahead of this potential disaster. We’re calling on the Army Corps of Engineers to implement contagion controls around flood-fighting efforts to immediately protect public health. And, we’re advancing solutions with the region’s decision makers to improve watershed management and give the river room to flood safely.
Will you help us protect people and rivers?
We need your help. It is difficult to affect change at this level, but it’s even harder during a national shutdown. So much is at stake. With your support, we’ll advocate for actions that could save lives.
The people of the Mississippi River need real solutions. Sandbags and luck won’t cut it, especially this year. It’s why we named the Upper Mississippi America’s Most Endangered River of 2020.
Donate today to protect river health and public safety
Despite our changed national environment, we’re still getting up every day, putting on our (sweat)pants and fighting for rivers. We’re proud to have you working along with us.
For the rivers,
