** Fight for a Just and Robust Fourth Estate
------------------------------------------------------------

============================================================

Dear FAIR Friend,

We’re launching into our fall fundraising drive with lots of hope! This summer, we told you about the concerning financial position we had found ourselves in, after a sustained dip in grants and donations and rise in expenses. You all showed up for us and helped us meet our goal.

But, to be entirely transparent, we absolutely need to keep up that momentum in order to put a dent in the more than $200,000 fundraising gap we have faced over the past year. We need a sustained, all-hands-on-deck approach for the foreseeable future.

You can count on our small but mighty operation to speak truth to power, to shout from the rooftops for a more democratic press, even in the darkest of times.

** Can we count on you to help sustain this work? ([link removed])

Here are some stories your generous support has funded recently:
* CounterSpin: Steve Macek on Dark Money
* NYT Uncritically Reported Israel’s Version of Golan Bombing by Bryce Greene and Lara-Nour Walton
* Students Left Out of Discussions About Student Gaza Protests by Felipe Rendall

Your sustained financial support is crucial to the continuation of this work, and the more resources we have, the more we’ll be able to fight for true justice for all. We don’t accept any ad payments or government grants, and our website, with nearly 40 years of archived material, is entirely free to access. Because we believe a just and robust independent press starts with the majority—not the 1%.

During this crucial election year, we’ve ramped up efforts to correct election disinformation, distortions and omissions in corporate press coverage. This takes resources.

With honesty and transparency as our core values, we will never ask for more than we need. But when we do need extra support, we’ll tell you. Now is certainly one of those times.

We need to make an ambitious push to close a significant gap in our fundraising in order to ensure a secure future for our organization.

** Whatever you’re able to spare will make a huge difference. Please donate as generously as you are able to help get us back on track. ([link removed])

In turn, we promise, the longer mass media’s injustice, bias and disinformation persist, to only get louder.

Though our staff may be small, we consider you all an integral part of our work. Thank you for being a part of FAIR.

Sincerely,
Olivia Riggio, Janine Jackson, Julie Hollar & Jim Naureckas
