Even as a kid in Trinidad, Jazmine always stepped into the light. The cheers, the crowd, the applause. The judges put up both hands – tens across the board. Now Jazmine uses her time in the spotlight to help others shine. She teaches them to walk, so they can run. She’s a model, a performer, and above all, she’s a mentor. But to some people, she’s just trans. Too
often trans people are defined only by their transness, and not by the countless other things that make up who they are. If more people took the time to look closer, they’d see human beings with hopes and dreams and unique stories to tell.
