Dear ,
As fall approaches, so do many exciting events, partnerships and programs at Poynter.
In September, we are hosting a Poynter Community Conversation, offering attendees a unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Pulitzer Prizes and hear from past winners. In November, we will celebrate our 10th annual Bowtie Ball, honoring ABC’s Robin Roberts with the Poynter Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism.
Beyond these events, we’re excited to announce new partnerships between Poynter’s PolitiFact, Capital B and PBS News to combat misinformation affecting voters during the 2024 election season. These partnerships reaffirm Poynter’s wider mission to fight misinformation and deliver truth throughout our community.
None of this would be possible without the steadfast support of our donors. We sincerely thank you for your continued dedication to our mission of supporting democracy.
Please reach out if you have any questions or wish to engage with us further.
Sincerely, |

The 2023-24 season of Poynter’s Write Field has officially wrapped. Since its founding in 2011, the program has aimed to bridge the achievement gap in local schools by empowering young men to build confidence and explore their world through writing.
This season, participants connected with writers, journalists and leaders like St. Petersburg City Council member Richie Floyd, Tampa Bay Rays radio announcer Andy Freed and author Calvin L. Reynolds. Through these meetings and exercises in novel writing, comic books and poetry, the participants of this program channeled their imaginations, aspirations and life experiences into powerful stories and creative works.
At the June graduation, students were celebrated with a keynote speech, dinner and program completion certificates. The 2024-25 season begins Sept. 14, expanding to include young women and offering new opportunities to meet with professionals from various industries.
