John,
On Labor Day and every day, I’m committed to standing up for working people in Oregon and across the country.
My ties to the labor movement go back to my childhood. My father was a labor leader who put in 52-hour weeks as a firefighter to earn a modest wage.
Since then, we have made incredible strides in the labor movement — with President Joe Biden being the first president to walk a picket line with striking workers.
I’m fighting every day to create jobs with fair wages, support different educational pathways to a career, and strengthen workers’ rights.
Together, we can secure even more wins for workers nationwide.
I’m grateful to be in this fight with you.
— Val
