Kimberly here. I know you’re busy and your inbox is likely flooded with requests for end-of-month donations. If this weren’t important, I would not be asking.

Today is the final fundraising day of this month, and I need your help to keep this campaign going.

Joni Ernst was recently named to president Voldemort’s “taskforce” to “re-open America,” which comes as no surprise because she will do anything to ingratiate herself with the Liar-in-Chief.

Her appointment is troubling, not only for her willingness to toe the party line, but because she recently said that Iowa has “fared pretty well” during the COVID-19 crisis.

This sentiment spotlights how out of touch Ernst is with what’s really going on.

No, Senator Ernst, Iowans are not faring “pretty well.” 148 Iowans have died from COVID-19. 6,843 are confirmed to have the virus as of yesterday, and it is clear from the recent outbreaks in our packing facilities that we do not have appropriate worker protections in place to prevent further spread.

Nearly 28,000 Iowans have filed unemployment claims this month, and many have still not received the pathetic $1,200 “relief” deposits.

We are not waging a political fight with this campaign. This is a fight for basic rights for all Americans -- rights that include proper workplace safety regulations, healthcare, paid sick leave and livable wages. This is a fight to keep your family and mine safe from unnecessary harm that could be caused by “re-opening” too early, too quickly, or both.

I don’t believe you should be forced to work in an unsafe environment or risk losing your job entirely because the president wants to see the stock market rise.

I believe it is the responsibility of elected officials like Senator Ernst to put aside party politics and fight for working-class Iowans.

She refuses to do that, and that’s why I’m running to replace her.
