John,
Today, as we celebrate Labor Day, I want to honor the rich labor history of our district and the city of Los Angeles.
From the Justice for Janitors campaign in the 1990s that won critical protections for low-wage workers…
To the historic teachers' strikes in 2019, where educators across Los Angeles stood up for better pay, smaller class sizes, and more support staff in our schools…
And on through today’s ongoing efforts, which see Starbucks workers organizing for better conditions in stores across Los Angeles…
Our city has always been at the forefront of the fight for workers' rights and dignity.
If you want a representative who was raised by the working-class communities of this district and has stood on the picket lines himself, then support our movement today. I’ve lived the struggles of our community, and I’m committed to fighting for the rights of every worker in CA-34. Contribute now to help us bring true representation and justice to Washington.
But the strength of our labor movement isn't just about securing fair wages and better working conditions—it's about collective justice.
This year, we've seen powerful leadership from our unions in calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and, now, an arms embargo.
The United Auto Workers (UAW) were early supporters of the ceasefire movement, and they bravely challenged the Democratic National Committee, demanding that uncommitted delegates be heard.
They also took a stand by protesting Netanyahu’s address to Congress.
Just the other day, the president of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) announced that their union is divesting from companies supporting the atrocities in Gaza.
Labor leaders and union rank and file alike understand that collective prosperity requires collective justice, and justice knows no borders.
Our labor is our power, and we refuse to let that power be used to perpetuate injustice and violence around the world.
The labor movement deserves leaders who share their values, not those who fund their campaigns with anti-union, anti-worker, Republican billionaire cash laundered through AIPAC.
As your congressman, I will push to finally get the PRO Act passed, and I will never take money from union busters.
As we reflect on the importance of labor this Labor Day, let’s also commit to electing representatives who will stand with workers – not just in words, but in actions.
We need leaders who will fight for both our rights in the workplace and our moral responsibilities as a united working class. Contribute today, and together, we can ensure that our power as workers is used to build a world rooted in justice and equality.
It’s time for us,
David Kim
