We send you a good number of emails, maybe more than some of your family or friends, so we thought we'd slow down for a minute and explain why these messages are so important.

First, we all know that elections cost an extraordinary amount of money -- more than ever since the Supreme Court opened the door to unlimited super PAC spending.

And as the head of the Democratic Party, the Democratic National Committee has an extraordinarily important role in moving resources to states and in support of campaigns every election cycle. We also run advertising and organizing campaigns of our own to support efforts in critical races.

Again, all of that costs money.

What may surprise you is there is no greater single source of donations to the DNC than these emails. Just like the one you are reading right now.

Now, we do not expect for a single second that anyone would contribute to every email we send. That would be ridiculous. And we actually exclude people from receiving emails for a period of time after they give (try it today!).

But with early voting right around the corner in what is the most important election cycle in modern American history, we hope you'll give to this one. Because the DNC is the one organization best positioned to allocate resources where and when they are needed most.

Can you please consider a contribution to the DNC today? You can give $5, $50, or whatever you can afford. Because the other thing about these emails is those donations add up fast when lots and lots of people respond with a contribution. Please add yours.
