Let’s talk about the shameless,
hypocritical, and frankly abusive behavior of Democrats who act
concerned that the Green Party isn’t having enough success against the
duopoly - while their own party actively suppresses Greens by suing us
off ballots, hiring paid operatives to sabotage our campaigns, locking
us out of debates, fighting ranked-choice voting, attacking us with
all kinds of misinformation and smears, and doing everything they can
to prevent voters like you from having real choice. Why isn’t AOC
saying anything about that?
Despite this relentless
repression by the anti-Democratic Party, the Green Party has
persevered and Greens have won 1400 elections, making us the
most successful independent left party since Eugene Debs’ Socialist
Party. We’ve won city council seats, mayoral races, school board
elections, and despite the massive disadvantages for grassroots
candidates who don’t take corporate money, we’ve won state legislative
seats too.
Contrary to the
misinformation coming from AOC and countless DNC trolls, Jill Stein
has supported many down-ballot candidates, campaigned with them,
fundraised for them, and even recruited many of
them. She has spoken at state Green Party conventions,
community meetings, college campuses, and every kind of protest you
can imagine, from anti-war to climate to racial justice.
Greens are active in these
movements across the country and have run thousands of down-ballot
candidates. But whenever and wherever we run Green candidates, guess
who always comes running to try to stomp out the Green Party? You
guessed it: the Democrats.
The Democratic Party is the
biggest obstacle to progress in this country precisely because it
takes up the space where we should have an authentic people’s
party, while actively working to prevent the growth of a genuine party
for the people. The Democrats tell you they support the
things you do during elections, then after they get elected they toss
all those promises in the trash and go back to working for their
donors, Wall Street and war profiteers.
Speaking of which, we have a few
questions for AOC: what happened to
$15 an hour? What happened to
Medicare for All? What happened to the Green New
Deal? What happened to
canceling student debt? Where’s ranked-choice
voting? These are all issues
that the Green Party first brought to the national political
discussion, and when Green ideas start getting too popular, the
Democrats co-opt them and find people to tell you that we’ll get these
things someday - if we all just stay in line and keep voting
blue.
These DNC narrative managers
tell you to be outraged when Republicans put kids in cages, but
not to worry when Democrats do it. They tell you it’s fine that the
Democrats aren’t holding a primary, because they can “push Biden
left”. They tell you that Kamala Harris is “working tirelessly
for a ceasefire”, when everyone knows that the Biden-Harris
administration is actively arming and funding the genocide in
Gaza.
So when you compare grassroots
Greens working their hearts out for people, planet, and peace to the
treacherous, corrupt, and genocidal Democratic Party, who’s
really authentic and who are the real predators?
Our opponents have mountains of
corporate cash to push their deceitful talking points, but we have
truth, justice, and incredible supporters like you on our side. If you can pitch in to help us fight back
against their relentless attacks, we’d be extremely
grateful.
