The labor movement has endlessly worked to advance the rights of working people. This Labor Day, I couldn’t be more honored to be out in my community to celebrate hard-working Americans and our labor leaders in Ohio.
While labor organizers work to secure higher wages, better benefits, and real investment in our employees, I'm fighting every day in Congress to pass pro-worker, pro-union policies.
During my time in Congress, I have cosponsored legislation to protect workers against unfair trade practices, raise the minimum wage, and provide affordable healthcare. I also helped deliver $500,000 in federal funding to train local Black entrepreneurs and secured additional federal funding for economic development in the Fairfax neighborhood, East Cleveland, and Cleveland Heights. But we still have work to do to overcome Republican roadblocks and ensure worker rights.
The power of the people is in our collective strength, and I know we can create an economy that works for us all together.
