John,
Today, millions of Americans are celebrating a long weekend thanks to the hard work and sacrifice of the labor movement. And Labor Day is far from the only thing we have to thank unions for. Add to the list:
- The whole idea of weekends and the 40 hour work week
- Laws prohibiting the exploitation of child labor
- Safety regulations to prevent workers from being injured on the job
- Higher paying jobs than non-union roles
- And more.
Too often we think of these things as obvious, permanent fixtures of our society. But the truth is they were won with the blood, sweat, and tears of millions of workers throughout our history — and it’s crucial that we remember that as the right seeks to dismantle unions across the country.
Multiple GOP-controlled states have made it easier to hire children for dangerous jobs in recent years, and their “right to work” laws are a direct assault on workers’ right to form and join a union.
We can’t stand by. That’s why pro-union Democrats like Greg Casar, Pramila Jayapal, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and others are working hard to pass the PRO Act and put an end to Republicans’ anti-worker agenda.
Winning this fight won’t be easy, though — it’s going to take all of us stepping up to do our part, just as it has in the past.
John, if you’re ready to support pro-worker candidates this November, will you split a donation of $5 between Greg Casar, Pramila Jayapal, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez today?
Your donation will be evenly split between the campaigns of Greg Casar, Pramila Jayapal, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
