Hi John,
Today, we celebrate the workers who keep our country moving forward! The American labor movement has shaped our economy in countless ways, from the 40 hour workweek and weekends to an end to child labor. When workers can collectively bargain for higher wages and safe working conditions, we all do better. No matter what kind of work you do, you should take pride in your job, and every American in our workforce needs a seat at the table.
The foundation of our economy isn’t made up of CEOs and folks coasting on generational wealth: it's hard working folks who deserve dignity and a living wage. At Emerge New Mexico, many of the Democratic women and non-binary candidates we work with were introduced to politics through labor actions or workplace issues. We’re proud to support these wonderful candidates as they fight for policies that will improve the lives of New Mexicans in countless ways, from labor rights to clean air and water.
Today, please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of the workers of previous generations who fought so hard for our rights — and consider how you take pride in your work, no matter what you do.
Thanks for your support,
Emerge New Mexico
