Happy Labor Day, John!

I have been crisscrossing CT-05 meeting with working people and hearing directly about the policies you want prioritized in Congress to build our economy and strengthen the middle class.

As a labor champion, my commitment to labor did not begin or end with on Labor Day. It began long before that.

As a teacher and union member running against George Logan, a lobbyist and long-time director at Aquarion, a billion-dollar water utility, there is no question which candidate stands on the side of labor.

- In Congress, I strongly support the Raise the Wage Act to increase the federal minimum wage from $7.25 per hour. In the Connecticut Senate, George Logan voted against raising the minimum wage in CT.
- In Congress, I strongly support paid family and medical leave. In the Connecticut Senate, George Logan voted against it.
- In Congress, I strongly support the PRO Act and the right of workers to form a union and collectively bargain for their wages and benefits. In the Connecticut Senate, George Logan voted against a state police contract that would have raised wages and provided hazard pay for the law enforcement officers who keep us safe.

If that is not enough, Logan has dismissed raising the minimum wage, passing paid family and medical leave, and strengthening labor rights in Congress as unnecessary because Connecticut already has them . The thing is, he opposed those policies despite their passage .

It just goes to show how George Logan has always been out-of-step with the people of CT-05, and he does not share the priorities of the labor movement and working people in Congress.

Labor unions have given us weekends, child labor laws, the 8-hour workday, the 5-day work week, and so much more.

As your voice in Congress, I will continue to advocate for organized labor, unions, and the rights and protections we have worked so hard for to build and strengthen the middle class.

Thanks for reading, and happy Labor Day.

With immense gratitude,

Jahana Hayes
