Fellow activist,
We wanted to thank you for helping us hit our August end-of-month fundraising goal and wish you a happy Labor Day!
The labor movement harnessed collective power to transform our nation, build the middle class, and win critical worker protections — despite often violent and sometimes deadly resistance. Every day, we are inspired by the labor movement’s hard work and sacrifice.
One of our key issues at the New Pennsylvania Project is economic justice. This includes working to increase the minimum wage.
Pennsylvania has not raised its minimum wage of $7.25 an hour for over 10 years. Nearly half the country and every state neighboring PA have increased the minimum wage. 73% of Pennsylvanians support a path to increasing it to $15 an hour, according to a poll by Keystone Research. However, obstructionists in the PA State Senate have continually blocked attempts to raise the minimum wage. That is why it’s important to elect candidates who represent the change and policies we all want to see for our future.
Expanding the electorate is all about using collective power to accomplish transformative change. That’s why we are out every day in communities across Pennsylvania, engaging Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, immigrant communities, and the youth across the Commonwealth to tap into their power by voting in every single election to shape our state for the better.
Thank you for standing with us in this fight today and every day.
In solidarity,
Team NPP
The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.
