Friend, Happy Labor Day!
I grew up in a working class family as a child, so this holiday holds a special place in my heart, as it reminds me of the values instilled in me.
My father was a proud union ironworker, and my mother juggled several part-time jobs while raising my three sisters and me. Seeing how hard they worked to give us a good life showed me early on the importance of supporting and advocating for the rights of every worker.
This day is not just about a long weekend or celebrating the end of summer – it’s about acknowledging the contributions of every worker who has fought for better wages, safer working conditions, and fair treatment on the job.
From the teachers who inspire our children, to the healthcare workers who care for our loved ones, to the first responders who keep us safe, and the countless others whose dedication and resilience power our communities – you are the backbone of America.
So as we celebrate this Labor Day, let’s remember the generations of workers and unions who fought to secure the rights we cherish today, and let’s honor the hard work and sacrifices of workers across the country. They deserve our respect, our support, and our dedication to creating an environment where every worker is treated with dignity and fairness.
