Hi there ––
With fall in the air and school back in full swing, it’s an exciting time of year!
For many students with intellectual disabilities (ID), returning to school can be a daunting experience. But there's someone who can make a real difference in their lives—and that’s YOU!
With a new school year kicking off, we’re reaching out to ask if you could send some encouraging words to Special Olympics athletes in your state and around the country who are heading back to class. Your supportive messages can truly lift their spirits and remind them of their amazing potential.

Take it from Alexea, a Special Olympics Maryland athlete and recent college grad, who knows all about the mix of excitement and nerves that come with heading back to school. From the thrill of starting a new school to the anxiety of meeting new people, Alexea has been there and she has some great advice for those heading back to class:Â
"It’s ok to feel nervous, it’s hard starting a new school or making friends. Just be yourself and you’ll find your people. You’ll have an amazing year ahead." - Alexea W., Maryland
Whether it's a short note, a thoughtful quote, or a personal experience you'd like to share, your words can truly make a difference in their lives. You can help build their confidence and motivate them to embrace both the challenges and joys that come with this new chapter.
