Hi John,
Happy Labor Day!
Here in Vermont, we owe a great deal to local heroes — from farmers and educators to healthcare workers and small business owners. Today, we recognize and honor the labor unions that have fought tirelessly for workers' rights and laid the groundwork for the benefits we enjoy today.
I've seen firsthand the difference that collective action can make, from my time with GEO UAW Local 2322 at UMass Amherst to my work as a teacher with the National Education Association. Thanks to these efforts, we have essential benefits like health insurance, paid sick leave, and fair pay — victories that have made a real difference for millions of Americans.
As we tackle new challenges like income inequality and threats to workers' rights, it’s more important than ever to stand together and protect our progress. In Congress, I’m committed to supporting the middle class and advocating for everyone’s right to organize and improve working conditions.
So John, let’s spend this Labor Day honoring those who fought for a more just world by continuing to support and uplift our working communities.
John, enjoy your day and thanks for all you do!
– Becca
