John,
Happy Labor Day. I wanted to take this day to appreciate the sacrifices that working men and women in Ohio and America make, and recognize their value to this country.
I’ve lived paycheck to paycheck, and I’ve experienced firsthand the sacrifices hardworking Ohioans make every day. As your Congressman, I will do everything possible to protect the interests of working class Ohioans.
Unions have done so much to shape the standards of working life in our country. The strides we have made in labor rights are primarily because of unions. Thanks to their efforts, we have the weekend off, enjoy a standard 40-hour work week, and benefit from fair labor practices. Historically, unions have been at the forefront of advocating for equal pay, even during challenging times such as the Jim Crow era and the Civil Rights Movement. They have also been instrumental in improving job safety and ending child labor.
Our workers deserve better representation. I will work to increase the minimum wage, secure further protections for union rights, ensure big corporations meet basic working standards, and protect medicare and social security so hardworking Ohioans know they can retire securely. .
I’m proud to say we’re running a campaign of the working class. We’re not fueled by donations from the ultra-wealthy and big corporations the way other politicians are.
This campaign is about standing up for hardworking Americans and making sure you are heard in Washington. I’m thrilled with our work so far, and I’m so excited to continue on our quest to bring real leadership to Ohio.
