Dear John,
It’s Labor Day weekend, when we celebrate the accomplishments of working people. My coworkers and I went out on strike at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront Hotel – and so did 10,000+ hotel workers in Baltimore, Boston, Honolulu, Kauai, Greenwich, New Haven, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.
It’s a busy travel weekend. Don’t cross our picket lines. Each person who pledges not to eat, meet, sleep or drink at a hotel on strike gives us power.
I spent 13 years as a Room Service Attendant. When I was moved to a Market Attendant two years ago, my income took a hit. I can’t afford my rent and medical bills, and I need a real raise to make ends meet.
I know the hotels can afford it. Hotel owners are making huge profits – at our expense. They understaff and we end up with harder and harder workloads. I believe that if we do nothing, it will be a disservice to everyone who fought before us.
Hotel workers are fed up, leading to widespread strikes. And it’s just the beginning. Will you have our backs until we win what we deserve? Sign the pledge.
When we fight, we win,
